Who should look elsewhere. EU teams that chose Cal.com for data residency or for self-hosting with team features now need a different plan.
This Cal.com review grades the product as it stands in September 2026. Short answer: for solo users and developers in the US, Cal.com is still worth a trial. For European teams that need EU data residency after November, an EU-hosted tool such as meetergo is the safer pick, and teams that only want a polished US scheduler can compare Cal.com with Calendly.

What Changed at Cal.com in 2026?
Two announcements reshaped Cal.com this year. On 14 April 2026 the company took its production codebase private, citing AI-driven vulnerability discovery. The public repository was renamed Cal.diy and relicensed under MIT with team and enterprise features removed. On 30 July 2026 it announced that Cal.eu will shut down on 1 November 2026, with Enterprise customers getting contract extensions.

You connect Google, Outlook, Apple or Zoho calendars, publish booking links, and let people pick a slot. On top of that sit round-robin and collective events for teams, routing forms, workflows for email and SMS reminders, a built-in video tool, payments and an AI phone agent. The developer side includes API v2, Atoms (React components) and a Platform plan for SaaS companies that embed scheduling. Since April 2026 it is a closed-source product run by Cal.com, Inc.
Who Is Cal.com Best For?
Cal.com fits people who want many event types for free, or who need scheduling that plugs into a CRM or their own code.
- Solo consultants and freelancers who need unlimited event types and paid bookings without a subscription.
- Developers and SaaS teams that embed booking with the API, Atoms or the Platform plan.
- US sales teams that route leads by Salesforce or HubSpot ownership.
- Telehealth and education teams in the US that want HIPAA compliance on a paid tier.
Who should look elsewhere:
- EU organizations with residency requirements. Once Cal.eu closes, the hosted route runs through a US company.
- Teams that picked Cal.com to self-host. Cal.diy has no team scheduling, routing or reminder workflows.
- Teams sending SMS outside the US and Canada. Those messages are billed through credits with a processing fee on top.

Cal.com's feature set is wide, and most of the depth sits in team scheduling, routing and automation. Here is what each part does and what users report.
Event Types and Availability
The free plan gives one user unlimited event types, calendars and meetings. Each event type supports buffers, minimum notice, booking limits, private links, seats and a requires-confirmation step. The availability troubleshooter was rebuilt in August 2026 (version 6.8), which helps when a slot does not show and you cannot tell which calendar blocks it.
A small-business designer reviewing Cal.com on G2 in April 2026 liked how quickly the booking page went onto their website and how easy vacations were to block. A software engineer in March 2026 praised the event-type controls but found the initial setup overwhelming and the integration documentation unclear.
Round Robin and Routing Forms
Round-robin scheduling, collective events and managed event types start on Teams. Round robin supports weights, priorities and fixed hosts, and reassignment got a webhook in version 6.8. Routing forms send bookers to the right person based on their answers. Organizations adds attribute-based routing and Salesforce or HubSpot ownership routing. In August 2026 Cal.com added an AI chat that drafts routing-form fields and logic from a plain description.
Tip. Routing by custom variables and member attributes is an Organizations feature at $28 per user. If lead routing is the reason you are buying, price the Organizations tier, not Teams.
Workflows, SMS and Credits
Workflows send email and SMS reminders and follow-ups. The August 2026 release added a canvas editor with conditional branches. SMS, WhatsApp messages and Cal.ai calls are paid with credits: Free gets 0, Teams 750 per member per month, Organizations 1,000. SMS in the US and Canada is free; elsewhere Cal.com bills Twilio's regional rate plus an 80% processing fee, and messages fall back to email when credits run out.
Cal Video and AI Meeting Notes
Cal Video is included on every plan, with recording and transcription in more than 40 languages. AI meeting notes that summarize transcripts started rolling out in July 2026 through a waitlist. If you prefer Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom, those connect as well.
Payments With Cal Pay
Stripe and PayPal payments are available on the free plan. Cal Pay, launched in July 2026, takes card, ACH, PayPal and Cash App payments without a Stripe account. Whop processes the payments, card fees are 2.3%, and identity verification happens at your first withdrawal. Cal Events adds ticketed events with guest lists on top.
Cal.ai Phone Agent
Cal.ai answers and places phone calls to book appointments. It costs $0.29 per minute, drawn from credits, and works on all plans. Cal.com does not list the languages it supports, so test it before routing European callers to it.
Cal.com Integrations, API and Apps
Cal.com connects to more than 100 apps, including Zapier, Make, Salesforce and HubSpot, and more than 20 video tools. Webhooks run on every plan. Developers get API v2, Atoms and OAuth clients. There are apps for iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux, plus browser extensions for Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox.
One caveat for EU users: the April 2026 G2 review above reported that after a mobile app update, the app tried to log in to cal.com instead of cal.eu, which locked the reviewer out of the app.

Cal.com Verdict: Is It Worth It in 2026?
Cal.com is worth it for solo users who want unlimited event types for free, for developers embedding scheduling, and for US sales teams routing by CRM ownership. Its feature set is broad, and its Trustpilot score is high.
It is a weaker choice for European organizations. The closed-source switch removed the audit and self-hosting argument, and the Cal.eu shutdown removes EU residency for everyone without an Enterprise contract.
