Fortified Electronic Signature (FES)
FES adds an email OTP layer before the respondent can draw their signature. This ties the verified email address to the signed document — creating a legally defensible record that goes beyond a simple checkbox.
- 6-digit OTP valid for 10 minutes
- Maximum 5 attempts before lockout
- Verified token valid for 60 minutes after OTP
Tamper-evident signed PDFs
When a respondent signs, their filled PDF is generated client-side and submitted with a SHA-256 hash. The hash is stored alongside the document. If the PDF is modified after signing, the hash no longer matches.

How FES works
Add a signature field
Add a signature canvas field to any form, or use a PDF template and place a signature zone on it.
Enable email verification
Toggle 'Require email verification (FES)' in the field settings. This activates the OTP flow before signing.
Respondent verifies and signs
The respondent enters their email, receives a 6-digit code, verifies, and then draws their signature.
Signed document stored with audit trail
The signed PDF is stored in your account with the full audit trail: verified email, IP, timestamp, and SHA-256 hash.
