How to create a Google review link

A Google review link takes a customer straight to the dialog where they pick their stars and write their text. Without it they have to search for your business, find the right profile and scroll down. Every one of those steps costs you reviews.

This tool builds that link from an identifier you already have, and generates the matching QR code at the same time. It needs no API key and no account, because the whole conversion happens in your browser.

Why the URL from the address bar is not enough

The URL you copy out of Google Maps points at your profile, not at the review dialog. Anyone clicking it lands on opening hours, photos and directions, and has to find the review button themselves. On a phone it sits a long way down.

The direct review link skips all of that and opens the five-star dialog immediately. That difference is what decides whether someone actually leaves the review or gives up halfway.

Three steps to your link

  1. 1. Paste your identifier

Use the “Get more reviews” link from your Google Business Profile, your Place ID, or the full Maps URL of your listing. The tool works out which one you pasted.

  2. 2. Test the link

Click “Test the link”. It opens exactly what your customers will see. If your business name is on that screen, the identifier is right.

  3. 3. Take the QR code and the button

Download the QR code as PNG for print or as SVG for typesetting. For your website, copy the finished HTML button, with the QR code embedded if you want it.

Where to find your Place ID

The Place ID is Google's unique identifier for your listing. It looks like ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4 and does not change when you edit your name or address.

  1. Open the Place ID Finder in the Google Maps documentation. It is free and needs no key of your own.
  2. Search for your business there and click the map marker.
  3. Copy the Place ID it shows and paste it above.

If you would rather not search at all: the link from the “Reviews” section of your Google Business Profile works here just as well, and it is two clicks away.

Where the link and the code belong

On the invoice and the order confirmation, in your email signature, on the table stand at the counter, on the back of a business card, in the confirmation email after an appointment and in the WhatsApp message after a job. The QR code covers everything printed, the link everything digital.

The link is only the start

A link does not produce reviews. Reviews happen when someone is asked at the right moment, shortly after the work was done. That is what meetergo automates: the request goes out automatically after the appointment, incoming reviews collect in one place, and it is hosted in the EU.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tool really free?+
Yes. No sign-up, no account, no limit. Generate as many links and QR codes as you need.
Is anything I type stored somewhere?+
No. The conversion and the QR generation run entirely in your browser. No request goes to our servers, and none goes to Google either.
What is a Place ID?+
Google's unique identifier for a listing on the map. It usually starts with ChIJ and stays the same even when your name, phone number or address changes. You can look it up for free in Google's Place ID Finder.
Why does my maps.app.goo.gl link not work?+
Short links like that are only expanded on Google's servers, and your browser is not allowed to read that response for security reasons. Open the short link once and copy the long address from the address bar.
Do customers need to be signed in to Google?+
Yes. Google requires an account for every review. The link takes signed-in users straight to the review dialog, and everyone else to the sign-in screen first and then there.
Am I allowed to ask customers for reviews?+
Asking is allowed and Google explicitly encourages it. What is not allowed is buying reviews, rewarding them with discounts, or asking only happy customers while filtering out the unhappy ones.
What size should I print the QR code at?+
Two to three centimetres per side is enough for table stands and flyers; a shop window can take considerably more. Use the SVG file for print, it stays sharp at any size.
Can I put the button on my website?+
Yes. Copy the HTML from the “Button for your website” section and paste it into an HTML element in your site builder. Every style sits in the tag itself, so no stylesheet is needed.
